like i was trying to find out what are the articles of her clothing. like all of her clothing from the most under clothing right out to her out-est clothing. or another words as if she was started to dress from being totally naked to fully dressed to go for a walk.

IDK alot about it, but i live in norfolk, va... where the settlers landed, there is alot of historical stuff arond here. and victorian woman would only get fully undressed like 2 times a year. which is when they took baths. they were like 23 layers and only take some off to sleep.

Thats all i konw off the top of my head.

:)

I have read loads of sources on victorian costume and many conflict as to what life was like for victorian women regards their dress.

I wondered if anyone else had any experience or a good idea as to the truth.

i have worn them for costume parties...they are after a while somewhat uncomfortable...but its fun and u sort of get used to it and enjoy the moment....plus it makes me feel dressed up(which people nowadays don't do enough) and very feminine....it exemplifies the differences in men and women...

A pillow simply won't work. Do they sell things they attach to your hips, etc, to make your dress poof in back?

back in those days they used to use to wear something called a bustle. look it up perhaps you can improvise making one urself or contact a costume company.

I've tried eBay but a lot is expensive. I'm really into that whole period, though, and I would really appreciate your help. Thnx :-)

this is an excellent source of quality costumes.

I decided to pull out some of my victorian clothing and show you the basic articles of clothing a victorian gentlemen would have worn. A few notes, the top hat is ORIGINAL, which means its about 130 years old. The watch is also from that time period, the serial number dating it to 1861. As for the cuff links i am pretty sure these are period original but cannot be sure I know they are mother of pearl. Let me just say a suit like this gets you noticed when worn out on a night on the town. When I say noticed, I mean in a good way!

My daughter and I recently watched Jim Henson's "Labyrinth" for the umpteenth time and we were wondering where the costumes are? Specifically the gown worn by "Sarah" and the blue jacket worn by "Jareth" in the "Costume Ball Bubble" Are the costumes being saved somehwhere and would we be able to see them?

They are being held with most of Jim Henson's original puppets and other assorted goodies from his career.

I'm pretty sure it's located in hollywood. I've seen Bowie's costume shown at various events.
